ABOUT THE Subjects
REED TIMMER
Reed Timmer is the most famous storm chaser in the world, currently commanding an audience of over 8.4 million followers across his social media platforms. Holding a Ph.D. in meteorology, Timmer is known for his aggressive and controversial approach to tornado science, frequently driving his custom-built armored vehicle, Dominator 3, directly into tornadoes to collect data. The 2024 summer blockbuster Twisters and its charismatic lead, Tyler Owens (played by Glen Powell), were directly inspired by Timmer’s maverick persona, with Powell’s famous catchphrase, “If you feel it, chase it,” originating from Timmer’s own iconic motto, “Never Stop Chasing.” Timmer rose to global fame starring in the Discovery Channel series Storm Chasers and returns to television this summer in the highly anticipated Discovery series In the Eye of the Storm: Chasers.
TEAM DOMINATOR
No maverick works alone. The film explores the intense camaraderie of “Team Dominator”—the highly skilled crew of extreme meteorologists and drivers who risk their lives alongside Timmer. The eclectic crew includes Mike Scantlin, Connor McCrorey, Edgar ONeal, and Matt “LocalMan” Spatol. Like Timmer, several members of the crew (including Connor, Mike, and Local Man) are featured in Discovery’s upcoming summer series In the Eye of the Storm: Chasers.
NATALIE IVIS & SUSAN TOLBERT
Grounding the extreme adrenaline of the film are two vital perspectives. New York Times photojournalist Natalie Ivis provides a prestigious, objective lens into the terrifying reality of the storm-chasing subculture. The film captures real-time, cinema verité footage of Ivis embedded inside the Dominator 3 during a harrowing storm intercept—an intense firsthand experience she later chronicled in a major New York Times photo essay. To understand the roots of this obsession, the film also features Susan Tolbert, Reed’s mother, who details his early aptitude as a Science Olympiad standout, proving his record-breaking career is the result of a lifelong, innate scientific genius.
THE SCIENTISTS:
DR. JOSHUA WURMAN, DR. HOWARD BLUESTEIN & TIM MARSHALL
Providing a rigorous counter-balance to Reed’s maverick methods, the documentary features titans of global tornado science and engineering. Dr. Josh Wurman (FARM/CSU) and Dr. Howard Bluestein offer an elite look at the highest levels of the meteorological community, while revered storm damage engineer Tim Marshall provides critical insight into Reed’s unique place in the chasing world and the haunting legacy of the tragic El Reno tornado. In an incredible crossover between entertainment and real-world science, Dr. Wurman used the film’s stunning 4K drone footage to officially clock the Greenfield tornado at a record-shattering 318 mph. His published 2026 study even formally credits the filmmakers—including director Ken Cole, Reed Timmer, and Mike Scantlin—proving that Never Stop Chasing isn’t just an adrenaline-fueled movie; it’s a piece of recorded history.
